International Year of Plant Health
The United Nations declared 2020 the International Year of Plant Health (IYPH). Individuals and organizations worldwide are rallying to spread a crucial message across the globe: protecting plant health can help end hunger, reduce poverty, protect the environment, and boost economic development.
How can you get involved?
- Learn. Take a moment to learn about the importance of plants and the International Year of Plant Health.
- Participate. Help us celebrate plants by getting involved with plant protection in your community. Explore the First Detector website—learn about a pest that you are not familiar with, try a new tool or resource, or organize a group to look for a target pest in your neighborhood.
- Spread the word. When people understand more, they care more. Help others learn about the importance of plants and plant health by starting a conversation with a friend or colleague; posting a First Detector IYPH poster in your community; or by engaging with us on social media by using the hashtags #IYPH2020, #FirstDetector, and #PlantHealth.
